That's correct, there is no plan to port 2.6 or 3.0 on OpenVMS.
Next OpenVMS major release will be based 2.7.
3.x will no be ported in foreseeable, not until the 3.x branch become
production ready.
If you compare the OpenVMS version with the current one include with
major Linux distribution, you will noticed that the OpenVMS version is
not behind.
For example, on a Ubuntu box: Python 2.5.2
On a OpenVMS box: Python 2.5.4
What I have seem, is that most (all) majors platforms are using 2.5.x
The next OpenVMS kit, probably before end of april, will be still be
based on Python 2.5.4 but will include new/updated libraries/tools. We
are waiting for the django 1.1 release.
