VMS is so far behind in the type of applications you can enjoy on
Windows, MAc and SUN or Linux.

I have been using Windows (begrudgingly) for over 10 years as my
basic tool for mostly admin purposes and have never had a problem
with worms or viruses. Why? Firstly knowning its problems it is
never exposed to the web is not allowed to have a routable IP. The
VMS cluster has both routable and non-routable IPs (10.x.x.x) so only
the VMS nodes have external IPs. The cisco router does the NATting
and has some simple firewall functions.

I pay for a service from Hungary, AVG (partly funded by Intel) which
is the virus checker and runs a daily scan and does a pretty good job
of staying current and quarantining suspect files.

I have been lustily eyeing the new MACs and may switch to the that but will
still need VMWare to run windows as I have all my correspondence an the
like going back to late 90s

But for mail I plan to move everything over to SOYmail under WASD on VMS,
just haven't figured out how to move the Outlook files.
