   Among Alpha systems, an XP1000 can be a lot cheaper than
any of those newer/nicer systems.  "multi-slot" =
"multi-PCI-slot"?  (Not a DS10L?)

   Among IA64 systems, the zx2000 is pretty reasonable,
noise-wise.  No special disk drive trays needed, no special
laptop DVD drive needed.  Only one CPU, but up to 8GB or
memory.  Runs HP-UX, too.  Too old for VMS support, but it
still works.

   I asked about it almost two years ago, and got some
responses, but no one offered a task list, so I let it drop.
I assume that nothing's happening.
