If the ethernet link from the VAX has high packet loss rate during
certain periods (for instance, if the VAX vacuum cleaner is in use right
next to the ethernet cable and geerates interference), it could cause
the multicast packets to be lost. But when decnet packets are lost,
DECNET will result in a request for them to be resent so the end user
may not notice the problem on the line.
In IP terms: LAT is like UDP while DECNET is like TCP.
