   Don't you have one?  As I asked, from what are you booting,
if not a bootable DVD?

   Booting a Linux DVD is not substantially different.  I just
installed Debian from a home-made DVD on my rx2600.  See, for
example:

      http://www.debian.org/releases/stable/ia64/ch05s01.html.en#bootable-cd

Everything starts from "Boot Maintenance Menu" or "EFI Shell
[Built-in]".

   I wouldn't bet that VMS could be done that way.
