A bit. And, unless you are working on a rather old system the UFS is
most likely really FFS anyway.

I know of no FAT filesystems that are Unix specific, but most current
versions of Unix can mount FAT file systems.

See what I said above. It's probably not really UFS. Try typing
"man fs" and see what it tells you. On my machines it even gives
you the whole structure of the super-block, which I believe was
one of your requests.
Lot's of information is out there for the looking, including the entire
source.
