Assuming a level playing field; e.g. employing U.S. citizens working in 
the U.S. of A. the cost of providing support is going to depend strongly 
on the quality of the product and its documentation.

Every once in a while, you find something that just works.  Most of the 
time even the best products have a bug or two, the design wasn't quite 
as good as it might have been, the documentation has a few problems . . . .
