Hype runs the software industry. Has for as long as I've been in it.
Everything is driven by unsubstantiated hype, including UNIX, OOP,
SOA, B2B, .com, Windows, ...
I could spend a day writing that list. DEC's failure to recognise
and capitalize on market hype was one of thier bigger failings.
