Looks like you've got the answers you were looking for.
The link between your LinkSys and your ISP takes care of itself. No need
to be concerned there, unless there's login criteria to deal with
(PPPoE, for example).
Internally, there's a setting or two more that you may want to look
into.
Your LinkSys should have a management interface using your browser.
There should be a network status page somewhere (probably requires you
to log into the router).

the LinkSys by your ISP.
Now, the LinkSys can provide those to your local DHCP clients. For the
Alpha(, VAX, I64, etc. with static IPs) you'll want to set those DNS
servers in the configuration of the IP stack on your VMS(, etc.)
machine(s).
I use a Netgear router, myself and I have that set to provide the local
IP address of my small Alpha to the local DHCP clients as the primary
name server. The VMS machine's IP stack's (Multinet) resolver is
configured to serve as the authoritative source for the
"home.djesys.com" subdomain, and refer all other queries to the upline
DNS servers provided by my ISP.
