The problem is that I don't really know what file means by that, and I suspect
most people here don't either. The only native compression I know of is
library 'data reduction' compression. Otherwise, ports of compress, gzip, zip, bzip2
or whatever are generally used.
Maybe a dump of the first few bytes, see if there is a sensible magic number will
get us closer the truth.
