An Alpha Server 800 will accept most 80 pin SCA drives. The height of
the drive and the heat generated by it are the limiting factors.
I ran a 148 GB IBM / Hitachi drive in the AS 800, it is now fitted in
an SBB for use in an AS 1200. No problem whatsoever in terms of heat.
The AS 800 users Seagate ST32171WC or ST32550's. I got 40 of them for
1 euro each.
The biggest, in terms of height that is, drive is an HP branded
Seagate ST19171WC. AFAIK the ST1^ series are the largest drives from
Seagate,
the ST3 and ST5 series are all lower in height.
