Seems the store staff are illiterate, or the call center staff are
illiterate, or some combination because they still screw up even the
simplest of instructions.

Even "plain" - which should be simple and easily understandable - is
ambiguous.

To some, it means "onions only".

To others, it means "cheese only".

There's even a place near my old home town we affectionately call "the
local biffy-burger" where "plain" means "lettuce only". So, you have to
ask for a "plain hamburger plain". Great Root Beer, though. (No car hops
- gotta find a "Dog and Suds" for that.)
