I was guessing that it was mapped in system space, and so not
easily addressed by user space. Well, user space shouldn't address
anything that it isn't normally supposed to address.
If it is in system address space, can an appropriately
privileged user address it?
Otherwise, removing it works, but not while the system
is running.
