Two more points from the lecture:

1) The Woz showed two different io-drive cards for ISA based systems.
Since these cards were installed in the PCIe slot, the processor had
much quicker access to this data then it did to data out on a spinning
platter (moving heads, rotational latency, etc.) I'm not sure how you
would do VMS-clustering etc. unless they would expect the same system
to have FC cards copying the data elsewhere like to an SSD in another
system (but this is just speculation on my part)

2) David Flynn (the other presenter) told the audience that data
centers account for 1.5 percent of all the electrical power consumed
in North America, and that figure was expected to double by 2011. He
also mentioned that replacing 8-bays of drive arrays with one bay of
their technology was equivalent to pulling 15 SUVs off the road each
year.
This could be "green marketecture" or could be the real McCoy. I'll
