Ubuntu has a NetBook specific distro out there as well.  The new
Karmic Koala Alpha/Beta release is being tuned even more to extend
battery on NetBooks.

All you have to do to extend battery life is to keep the hard drive
shut off for as long as possible...and make the monitor use E-Ink.
