And to be complete, Pascal has PAS$RAB, PAS$FAB as well as USERACTION on 
both the OPEN and CLOSE statements if you want to get involved in either 
operation.  You can use %DESCR on Pascal on just about anything and we'll 
build the reasonable CLASS_S descriptor with the right DTYPE.  Can't do that 
for records as there is no single DTYPE that is reasonable.   You'd have to 
typecast to some string type to get a CLASS_S/DTYPE_T descriptor if that is 
what you'd want.
