Way back in 1987 I started working on VMS systems in Toronto. At that
time my employer had a policy to never install the next release of any
OS software. What is bad about this point of view is that SOMEBODY has
got to be first. Since those days I have adopted the policy of only
installing UPDATE-X when others are installing UPDATE-X-plus-one. Like
before though, I am relying on SOMEBODY ELSE to do my real-world
testing. If life were fair we would do more rigorous testing of these
updates but life isn't fair meaning we just don't have the people or
money to do it. So we rely on the vendor (HP).
