If I do business with a company and they ask me for my email address
and have a box to check to subscribe to their email list then it is
not spam if I check the box. If I do business with a company and they
assume that I want to subscribe to their email list then it is spam!
If you purchase something from amazon.ca then they assume you want to
subscribe to their list, if you purchase something from mint.ca then
they assume you want to subscribe to their list. Both of these lists
are spamming.
If you want to receive way too much spam then call the support number
on irobot.com and ask their technical support to email you
instructions on reconditioning the battery in their product. At the
bottom of each email there is a note that I am receiving the email
because I asked to be on the list, but that is a complete lie, I never
asked to receive ads from irobot.com.
It does not matter what the content of the email is, if you did not
specifically sign up to receive the email then it is spam. If the
order form at mint.ca had an option to receive the mailing list then I
probably would have opted-in and I would have enjoyed receiving the
emails about new coins, but since they did not give me an option I
forward each and every one to spamcop.
