[Info-vax] Externally authenticated users

A Happy New Year to everyone !

I am trying to setup external authentication on VMS to resolve password
synchronization problems (windows, VMS).

I got it working but 2 applications that we use, among which at least one is
supposed to use the SYS$ACM service to authenticate users but does not work
for externally authenticated users.

The vendor says that they always use the SYS$ACM service but I need to use
the old password after it is changed on the windows side, up until the
SYSUAF password has been sychronized with LDAP. Synchronization happens
whenever I log on directly to VMS (on a terminal). That`s when I receive the
"OpenVMS password has been synchronized with network password" message.

Does someone know if using SYS$ACM automagically handles externally
authenticated users or if the application calling sys$acm must do something
special in order for it to work (like set some parameter in calling the
service, or something) ?

In other words, is the vendor bullshitting me when saying they use sys$acm,
or do they really do but must change something in their code to make it
"externally authenticated accounts" aware ?

Thanks !
