Here's one for the unexpected results collection. I just
did a brain transplant, replacing the 900MHz CPU in my
(relatively quiet) zx2000 with a 1.5GHz CPU from one of those
(relatively noisy, dual-CPU) rx2600 systems from Asset Recovery
Systems (Ebay, or just stop in if you're in the neighborhood).
I haven't tried testing what's left of Dr. Two-Brains yet, but
the zx2000 seems to have survived and prospered.

But the _startling_ thing is that it now spends only about
five seconds at the "VGA BIOS" message, and doesn't complain
about being "Unable to execute video bios":

[...]

VGA BIOS: 1002 5157 0708

So far as I know, the only change was the CPU (and its power
module), so I can only make uneducated guesses as to what might
be the reason for this change in behavior. If anyone else has
any evidence to contribute, I'd be interested in seeing it.
(Like, what's your CPU clock frequency, Alan?)
