This line should be put in the startup file only if you want to use an 
external (to VMS) X11 display server, such as xCursion on a PC.

If your VMS node itself is a X11 display server (as it appears to be), 
do not put the line in. Just point your external application to display 
on your node. How to do that depends on what the other system is. If 
it's also VMS, just do a

$ SET DISP /CREATE [/PERM] /NODE=<yournode> /TRANSP=TCPIP
$ CREATE /TERM /DETACHED

from your remode node, and the X-terminal window will appear.
