That is a more a matter of money than technology.  X-terminals are
still manufactured and sold.

If you are talking about PC's that will be dedicated to this task as
opposed to being on someones desk this problem becomes fairly easy
and cheap to solve.  There is free, Linux based Thin Client software
that supports X as well as Windows.  Actually it can be set up with
a menu to do both, but that isn't what you need anyway. :-)  It's
called ThinStation.  It could be set up to do exactly what you are
doing now with the real X-terminals.  And probably deliver better
performance.

Depending on how you decided to set it up, this could be hard or
maybe even easier than what you have now.  Again, more info will
be required.
