Yep, same mentality which let Unix and Windows take hold and eventually
steal VMS sites. Same mentality which DEC used to justify pricing its
compilers at $6000 compared to the full development suites from
Microsoft at $300 back then.


Don't underestomate Linux (or any other Unix) , Windows or OS-X. They
are pitched at the same customers. As as their capabilities increase,
they eat more and more into the last few remaining niches for VMS.
