Hi.
I've just read through the AS-800 user guide
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/alphaserver/firmware/retired_platforms/servers/AS800/EK-ASV80-UG-B01.pdf
and it's a little unclear about the use of the standard
MMJ and/or the 9-pin "COM1" connecter as a standard SRM-console.
Today the system has an VTxxx connected to the MMJ but we
want to connect a standard terminalserver to be able to
reach the console over the network. Now, the manual talkes
about the 9-pin connected as a remote connection to the
RMC (Remote Management Console), which is, as far as I
understand, not exactly the RMS (">>>") console, right ?
The local network/cable guy would like use the 9-pin
connector so he don't need to crimp new cables for
the MMJ.
Question is, will the 9-pin COM1 connector work just
as the normal MMJ consol port ? Or would it be
better to go for the MMJ port directly ?
Best Regards,
Jan-Erik.
