Got me. I wouldn't bet on it. And I'm still waiting for a
complete problem report from the original whiner (which might
offer some clue as to at which point that might have been).

Did you try it with the same file as the O.W.? It would be
data-dependent. I have a dim recollection of seeing some
(VAX?) .OBJ files which had some non-zero bytes after EOF, too.
May have shown up with UnZip after Zip -V. I believe that we
now clear an extra odd byte when writing one byte after EOF
(when you must write an even number of bytes), but the annoying
.OBJ files had more than one junk byte (3?), so it's no good
without Zip -VV (which generally ignores EOF). BACKUP may be
smarter, but I don't think that it always does exactly what one
might expect.
Might have happened after a move to a larger disk, with a
bigger cluster size, too. Had more blocks after EOF on the new
disk, which caused a mismatch there. (Or I could be
delusional. Again.)
