Unfortunatly, the reality is that as a publicly traded company, HP has a
fiduciary duty to shareholders. Wall Street Casino Analysts
represent/influence a large proportion of investors.

So a lot of what HP does is aimed at pleasing the Wall Street Casino
Analysts.

Verizon has to be applauded for having done something for the long term
(deploy fibre to the home) which Wall Street Casino Analysts didn't
like. But now, they have turned around and are starting to like it.

HP doesn't have the leadership style that can go against Wall Street.
Hurd is a good administrator, not a visionary. He can't convince Wall
Street Casino Analysts, he can only provide them with numbers they like.
