A relatively simple alternative is ODBTP. ODBTP is opensource and
easily compiled on VMS with a C compiler. It uses the TCPIP socket
interface to talk to a Windows service that itself can access any ODBC
source.
I used it in some projects at a former job and it was working well
provided you do not need too much performance. It is ODBC after all.
