Well, the kids are leaving the house which means the attic is now my
territory :-)

I looked at the obvious places. vt100.net has a two documents specific
foor the 3000 model 300x. One discusses installation of hardware
options, the other explains the upgrade to a faster Alpha.
The 3000 model 300x is not a fast machine (none of my Alphas, not even
the 1200 5/533, are considered fast) but it will run VMS 6.1.
Why run 6.1? Sentimental reason only: a long time ago at one of the
DECUS Europe conferences DEC handed out neat three cd packages. It
held an Alpha firmware cd and VMS V6.1 for the VAX and Alpha
platforms.
These cd's havnever been used, mainly because (IIRC) Alpha VMS 6.1 had
a bad reputation for stability.
But I'd like to set up a VAX and Alpha mixed architecture NI cluster.
