Well, there are issues of medical treatment; in Canada you may have to 
wait years for "elective" surgery.  In the U.S. all you have to do is 
find a willing surgeon, a hospital with the necessary facilities, and 
pay the bills.  OTOH medical care in Canada is "free" if you can afford 
to wait for it!

There are also issues of climate.  We have about an inch of snow on the 
ground here in New Jersey.  I suspect that most of Canada is measuring 
snow-fall in feet rather than inches.  The snow here may last for 
another two or three days.  Canada?  Weeks or months!

As far as taxes are concerned, they pay sales, use, and "occupancy" 
taxes pretty much the same as we do.  If they  don't earn a pay check 
here, they pay no income tax here.  If you visit Canada in the summer, 
you won't pay Canadian income taxes but you will pay sales taxes and 
maybe "occupancy" taxes on your hotel/motel bill.
