You didn't mention architecture, version, or NIC cards...

For me, last time I had lots of PEA0 errors (I run clusters on various 
Procurve switches), I had a mismatch between the console's PEA0 config (I 
didn't have it set for auto) vs the switches settings.  So use LANCP, et al. 
to check for duplex or speed mismatches.
