Just to clear things up about the Deathrow/Node name thing:

It is correct, it's not as a so much to glorify the serial killers.
As a kid, like many people, I did read a bit about serial
killers. Just the thoughts about what they could do is a scary
thought. The first node I got up was "MANSON". This is what I told
the lady from HP World during a e-mail interview, "You don't forget
the name of a VAX named Manson". It's easy to remember (for most
people) and it's a non-traditional naming convention. Needless to
say, HP World almost begged me to renamed the cluster.

When DAHMER came online, one of the Deathrow admin's mentioned
something about calling it the "Deathrow" cluster. I liked it, and
decided to use it. You'll noticed users on the cluster are known as
"INMATES". It's mostly a long running "joke". Some people seriously
don't like it, but most don't seem to mind. It's worked out pretty
well... . Any one that get's an account on "Deathrow" tends not to
forget the name :)

In other news, we did have hard drive issues on MANSON. MANSON is
the old uVAX 3100/80 that's been working away for quite some time
(even before it became a Deathrow node). I _think_ (knock on wood)
I've gotten the hard drive issue resolved. DAHMER is a new node (SIMH
machine) but logins have not been enabled yet, as we are still trying
to get that machine online.

I've also been talking with a person who wants to donate a Itanium
machine to the cluster. We're still working on that, but needed to
say I'm personally very grateful for the contribution to the
cluster. So, what should the new node name be if all works out ? :)
