Might be worth checking the physical connection to the DVD drive to
ensure it hasn't come loose in transit.

Oh, and I wouldn't be surprised if DVD drives get damaged - certainly
with the ZX6000/RX2600 the temptation to pick up the box holding on
the drive at the front is difficult to resist - hence the large 'DONT
LIFT SYSTEM by drive' sticker on top of it. Hehe.
