For applications, I think 6.x would have been the peak. Some could argue
it was 5.5-2
Remember that Palmer made a fairly extensive layered product cleanup
during his tenure. ("cleanup" is a polite word)
Consider all the products such as rdb, vax-document etc that were sold
and thus no longer included in the SPL.
A lot of products that were not ported to Alpha did continue to show up
on the VAX SPL for a long time and many (like messager router) made it
to the last VAX SPL (7.3). But many did not.
Another way to ask the question would have been to ask what NEW products
were added to the VAX SPL since 5.5-2.
