Hi JF,

I do know who MANSON is and, more relevant to Steve Thompson's post, I also
knew who Sharon Tate was. I got the impression he was uncomfortable with
"Yippee" and "MANSON's up" in the same sentence and as I thought that was
understandable, I went some way to explaining it.

I also recall from the movie Helter Skelter, with the best education that TV
can provide, some of the gorier details. The rest is a bit sketchy so
correct me where/if I'm wrong, but I think it was a bit later that I heard
Roman Polanski was married to Sharon Tate at the time? Hasn't he had to
exile himself for 30 years to excape justice? Isn't he currently trying to
erase history and get back into The States? Still given that I fell off my
chair when I saw America (and the President no less) *honouring* Pete
Townsend recently, I guess anything is possible :-(

PS. Is Charles Manson still alive? I recall various snippets over the last
30 years about him trying to escape from jail in a balloon, to a new crime
leading to more years being added to his sentence.
