[Info-vax] mail notification when resuming DECwindows (traditional) session on VAX

After entering my password and resuming a session in DECwindows on VAX, 
I used to get a message saying a) how many new mail messages I have and 
b) how often incorrect passwords were entered.  Now I get neither.  What 
could cause this?
