For farmers, their farming tasks are dictated by sunrise. But they also
want to have store hours and TV schedules (local news and weather
especiallyy) to match.

When the clocks move forwards, it removes one hour between sunrise and
the 18:00 newscast when they sit down for dinner and want to listen to
the farming news and weather forecast. And they also need to end their
farming tasks an hour earlier if they want to have time to go shopping
before stores close.
