Equivalent in function and use to things like VMS, zOS, OS-2200. Used
for real work and not just something three guys play with in their mom's
basement. Mentioned in real IT trade rags (oops, that elimnates VMS :-).
I can honestly say that I have never heard of any of the one's you
mentioned. A quick show of hands, how many people here had actually
heard of any of these before this mention?
And, then again, I could also mention all og the other non Open Source
OSes that people think are dead but are actually still plugging along
long after the demise of their parent companies without the need for
being "open sourced". How about RSX-11, RT-11, RSTS/E, Primos. Those
are just the one's I know of personally (due to past association with
them and keeping in touch with peers from those old days). I am sure
there are plenty more. Contrary to what Stallman would have you believe,
Open Source is no the the universal answer.
