Rob,
Are you trying to get OpenVMS onto an otherwise virgin system by
joining it to a cluster? In that event, in addition to the normal work
in configuring the cluster, one has to add the Ethernet address and
configure DECnet to support loading over the Ethernet.
I do not have the time to point to a precise page, but it should be in
the DECnet manual and OpenVMS cluster manual under "Diskless
Satellites" (for this purpose, the machine IS effectively diskless if
it does not (or cannot) boot OpenVMS from its own disk [and yes, to
answer the somewhat obvious question: Been there, done that.]
