I've been doing this for a long time, so I forgot when I started, but I've
been doing it for at least the V5.x versions, including the current V5.6
version.

I must admit I didn't know about this file - I've always used aliases
within the UCX hosts database. I think I will go and reread the
documentation to see if the preferred alias method has changed.

The only advice I can offer is to try entering the aliases in the UCX
hosts table and see if that works. If it doesn't, I don't really have
any ideas why it's not working, because out of all the problems I've had
with UCX over the years, this has not been one of them.
