I have thought about that, but I don't have a supply
of cheap magnet wire.  I would try for at least 15A
at 120V.  Empty, the current is limited by the inductance
of the coil, and one can calculate how much wire is
required to limit it to 15A at 120VAC 60Hz.
It will get hot, so most have a limited duty cycle
(one minute on, five minutes off, for example).

The current will go down some when a tape is inserted,
but should probably be designed such that the empty
current isn't too high.
