I have never worked with VMS Basic, but since:
- MySQL comes with a C API
- VMS C follow VMS calling convention
- VMS Basic follow VMS calling convention
then I assume the problems to be solved was in the "data type
convenience" type (if Basic uses descriptor strings then converting
to a reference byte array zero terminated and so on.
