If this is just some certification process to ensure that outpoit from a
new platform matches that of the old platform, then modifying the old
platform would not be such a great idea.

In the end though, if the cocvert to strean format and back to variable
doesn't *remove* the extra CR/LF in there (aka: extra blank lines
between records), then you will need to have an program or use an editor
to remove the excess data.
