The boards in my (powerless for many years) mu-VAX II have
M7609 in copper on the board, and M7609-xx stamped into the
metal frame. The "M" number looks like a more reliable guide,
when combined with inspection to see if your 2/4MB board is
full or half-full.
Alternatively, count the DRAM chips, look up the part
number to get the density, and divide by nine (eight bits plus
parity).
