   In the VMS 3.x to 4.x time frame, and I've been told later, modules
   were rewritten from Macro-32 to BLISS when they were being worked on
   for other reasons.  I think one of the big pieces I ran into was
   MNTSHR.  $MOUNT was being reworked to add cluster wide volume name
   locking.  (No two shareable volumes by the same volume name.)
