[Info-vax] Text processing examples with Fortran requested

   Adding NAMELIST support to the VAX compiler was the last time I
   recall VMS Fortran catching up with some other vendor's extension
   to the standard.

   After that VMS Fortran and all the extensions DEC added to it became 
   the defacto industry standard.

   Even after I was happily speeding along on our first Alphas, HP and
   Sun were heavily advertising that thier compilers were "VAX Fortran"
   compatable.
