Well, duh. How much newer is the Alpha system? 1995 -
1989? My VAXstation 2000 has 6MB of memory and MFM disks.
(Anyone with a 12MB card in the free-to-good-home price range
is welcome to contact me.) My AlphaStation 200 4/233 has
768MB of memory and fast-wide SCSI disks. It certainly
_ought_ to be faster, even if the CPU itself were not.
I seem to recall that there were earlier, slower Alpha
systems, but that one is slow enough. "without even breathing
hard"? Try a Web browser. Of course, if you think that plain
DECwindows is slow on a VAXsta 2000, try Motif (with too
little memory and slow disks).
