_My_ first VAX, but not the first VAX I had ever worked, was a VAXstation
2000.  It has 14MB, the expansion plate and an expansion cabinet.  I have
2 Maxtor-XT2190s (RD54s) MFMs.  DECwindows does load on it, albeit, it is
inordinately slow to start.  I used to us the quick boot feature when I'd
used this system to help shorten the boot time.  It was only B&W too.  I
remember I paid a pretty penny to get my hands on my own VAX too.  Anyway,
I eventually stopped using it with DECwindows.  Simple terminal access was
much faster.  Besides, it was just a box for hacking kernel code.  Crash-
ing production boxes was a no-no.
