_My_ first VAX, but not the first VAX I had ever worked, was a VAXstation
2000. It has 14MB, the expansion plate and an expansion cabinet. I have
2 Maxtor-XT2190s (RD54s) MFMs. DECwindows does load on it, albeit, it is
inordinately slow to start. I used to us the quick boot feature when I'd
used this system to help shorten the boot time. It was only B&W too. I
remember I paid a pretty penny to get my hands on my own VAX too. Anyway,
I eventually stopped using it with DECwindows. Simple terminal access was
much faster. Besides, it was just a box for hacking kernel code. Crash-
ing production boxes was a no-no.
