SUN delivers Java implementations for Windows, Solaris and Linux x86.
They have EOL'd the free version of those.
HP decide when their Java implementations (VMS, Tru64, HP-UX) EOL's.
The fact that it is based on SUN code does not imply that
the EOL rules for the free SUN implementations apply.
HP will to some extent be depending on EOL in their agreement
with SUN.
But since SUN will need to support the code anyway for their
paying customers, then it seems obvious that if HP is willing
to pay SUN, then HP can support Java 1.5 on VMS for many
years to come if they want to.
Note all the if's.
