You can buy hard copy documentation for some varieties of Unix. Sun
publishes hard copy docs for Solaris. See docs.sun.com. You can read
it on line at no charge. Hard copies cost money. You can download and
print your own hard copy if you have a fast printer.
There are also a great many books about various flavors of Unix that can
be purchased from a local book store or on-line at Amazon.com. These
books should be taken with a grain of salt. "Sun Certified Solaris 9.0
System and Network Administration" has at least fourteen errors! I may
have missed some!
