   There are no apps similar to VMS.  We run SIMH either because we
   want to run that OS, or because we want to run an app that is only
   on that OS, and therefor is running much faster than it ran on
   real hardware.

   If you want to run a buggy mail client on an insecure OS, go
   ahead and do so.  I'm sure no one will accept a comparison between
   that and a VMS mail client.
